We filmed their day at Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge, in the Canadian Rockies, under warm, cloudless summer light that mountain weather doesn’t often agree to give up. For Emily, the lodge wasn’t just a beautiful backdrop, it was a return. She’d spent summers there as a kid with her family, and getting married on those same grounds gave the whole day a quiet, full-circle feeling that came through in every frame.
Vlad is French Canadian and Emily’s family is from the UK, and their day held both traditions with an elegant, classic tone, timeless suiting, timeless florals, timeless vows, the kind of film that will look just as good in twenty years as it does today. And no recap would be complete without Rousseau, their dog, who was a full member of the wedding party and gave the film some of its warmest, funniest, unguarded moments.
Filming at a place like Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge has its own rhythm. Light shifts fast against the mountains, and the best moments often happen just outside the schedule, a quiet walk before guests arrive, a dog who’s decided he’s done sitting still. Our job is to stay light on our feet and keep the camera rolling through those in-between moments, because that’s usually where the film finds its heart.
